IPhone and IPod Security Issues And Solutions

13:58

How to Solve Apple IPhone and IPod Security Issues                                    And Their Solutions

In this post I’ll be writing about the insecurity of Apple products in general and looking directly at their IPhones/IPods security flaws. I would also like to note that I have a tendency to be anti-Apple, so beware that this post may have be slightly bias against Apple.
Firmware: The original definition being a file usually the operating system of a device stored on read only memory and could not be changed but, in the last couple years the firmware of devices have started to be storage that was writable so updates could be performed.
Custom Firmware(Jailbreak): Because the firmware in newer devices is stored on writable storage it is possible to reprogram or change the operating system to do something that the manufacturer did not desire, which would be the custom Firmware.

  • Apple’s Long Lived Lie

Apples has claimed to produce the most secure products for the longest time but now a days it just isn’t true. After the release of Windows XP the internet became much more accessible and so did the security risk of virus’s and spyware. Because Apple computers where less popular than Windows PCs, the hackers created virus’s designed to attack the majority (The Windows Users). Meaning Apple was more secure than Windows at one point of time.
Because Windows has been a target for hackers, Windows was able to be developed to be more resistant to attacks. When the Apple IPhone became a success their computers also became more popular which started to catch hacker’s eyes.
Apple’s IPhone is ostensibly insecure especially when compared to products such as the BlackBerry. So it easy to say that currently in 2013, Apple products are not any more secure than any other products.

  • IPhone and IPod Exploits

When IPhone firmware becomes out of date and there are almost always public exploits for outdated firmware’s so the IPhone would be at high risk of being hacked. There are also many types of port scanning attacks that could be applied to an IPhone when using wireless because of their low level firewall.

  • Jail broken IPhones Less Secure than Android

Because the only application that can be installed on your Idevice natively has to be verified with an expensive License, many homebrew developers have designed custom firmware for the IPhone to allow you to run Homebrew Applications from the App database Cydia. Of course in similar ways to Android installing apps not created by large publication companies puts you at risk to virus’s and spyware. But unlike Android which has been developed to have accompanied by the protection of an antivirus, Jail broken Devices don’t have this extra wall of protection against Hackers.

  • Keeping your Apple Products Safe

First you could not purchase Apples Products and buy something better for less instead. But I have a feeling Apple lovers won’t follow this simple rule so if you really want to hold on to your “Icrap” keep it updated and don’t download random apps you don’t need.
